Exploration During the Travel Bans + Wildlife
For 200,000 years, it has been human nature to explore. And, while physical travel is halted at the moment, it certainly hasn't stopped the adventurers at heart from dreaming about it.
We've witnessed many creative ways people are keeping the wanderlust spirit alive while at home. Here are just a few of them:
1 - Treat Your Home Like a Hotel
While it may not be exactly the same without daily room service, this trick may provide you with the same sense of relaxation stepping into a hotel does. How to achieve the vacation-feel at home? First, clear your space of clutter, make your bed, and give yourself clean sheets and fresh towels. Choose background music and scents to set the mood, for example, rose water or coconut for a tropical feel. Treat yourself to simple pleasures such as flowers and leaving chocolates on your pillow in the morning. Indulge in relaxing activities such as an online yoga or meditation class, painting, or sitting in front of a fan with a delicious chocolate or fruit smoothie (close your eyes and imagine the vacation breeze on your skin). Take this idea and run with it.
2 - Print Your Travel Photos
Most of us have a ton of travel photos just sitting on our computers or phones, waiting to be printed. Why not print them & display them creatively on the wall or in a scrapbook? Take a trip down memory lane, observe the details in the photos, and reminisce about these past experiences.
3 - Indulge in Travel From Your Sofa
Grab your favorite beverage and get comfy on the couch. Google has teamed up with over 2,500 museums and galleries to bring you online exhibits. From the British Museum in London to the Guggenheim Museum in New York to the Musée d’Orsay in Paris—you can find it all on Google Arts & Culture. This may keep you busy for a while!
4 - Explore Where You Live With Fresh Eyes
While humans are indoors more than normal, wildlife are noting the change and exploring where they live like never before.
Since the quarantine began, deer have been brave enough to come out of their usual dwelling places in London's woodlands and parks, and have settled down in the front gardens of East London's residential areas.
These goats normally live on the rocky Great Orme headland in Wales are are occasional visitors to the nearby seaside town of Llandudno. The lack of people and tourists has drawn them back to adventure on the quiet streets.
People jog near a jackal in Hayarkon Park in Tel Aviv, Israel, on 10 April. The timid animals have come into the open, reaching areas they rarely venture to as they search for food.
Penguins from the Kansas City Zoo recently paid a visit to the nearby Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, wandering the halls as they admired Baroque and Impressionist masterpieces.
Much like the wildlife, we can utilize this time to gain a new perspective about where we live by observing and interacting with our home like a tourist.
During this unprecedented situation, we are working to ensure that all people who want to travel can do so in the future. We are here to ensure that when the time is right you can explore the world, discover yourself and inspire passion. Until then, stay safe and healthy.
As always, thank you for your confidence and trust in Venture Road. See you on the Road soon,
